Principle:

Cadmium: Cadmium react with cadion to produce a red complex and the depth of color is proportional to the concentration of cadmium ions.

Copper: In ammonia solution, copper ions react with copper reagent to form a brownish yellow complex and the depth of color is proportional to the concentration of copper ions.

Zinc: Zinc ions react with zinc reagent to form a blue complex and the depth of color is proportional to the content of zinc ions.

Mercury: Mercury ions react with Dithizone to produce a purple complex and the depth of color is proportional to the content of mercury ions.

Aluminum: In a neutral solution, aluminum ions react with Aluminon in the presence of polyethylene glycol octylphenyl ether and Hexadecylpyridinium bromide to form a blue quaternary complex and the depth of color proportional to the content of aluminum ions.

Magnesium: Magnesium ions react with magnesium reagent to form a purple complex, and the depth of color is proportional to the content of magnesium ions.

Chromate: Chromate ions (Cr6+) react with Diphenylcarbazide to produce purple diphenylcarbazone, and the color depth is proportional to the content of chromate ions.

Total iron: Hydroxylamine hydrochloride reduces iron ions (+3) to ferrous ions (+2), and together with the existing ferrous ions in the solution, react with Phenanthroline and produce a brownish orange complex.

Lead: Lead ions in water react with Dithizone to form a purple complex, and the depth of color is directly proportional to the content of lead ions.

Cobalt: Cobalt  react with Rhodanid to produce a brown complex.

Test Method:

1. Immerse the test strip in the specimen & wait for 1-2 seconds then remove it.

2. Use absorbent paper to remove excess specimen from the test strip. Place the test strip horizontally and wait relative time showing on the colorimetric chart.

3. Read the results compare to the colorimetric chart.
